Following our recent exhibition by Nástio Mosquito (4 February – 19 April 2015), Ikon, in collaboration with Nuova Icona, presents a selection of the artist’s work at the 56th Biennale di Venezia. In Demo da Cracía (2013), Mosquito emerges in a studio to shoot a music video for his single. In front of a large green screen, he dances and performs before breaking into a speech on Angola and identity. Fuck Africa (remix) (2015), made in collaboration with Spanish artist Vic Pereiró, is an extraordinary collage of moving images in which footage of the artist is juxtaposed with a rogues’ gallery of world leaders and celebrities. The exhibition also includes a new video work South (2015) created by Nastivicious (a collaboration between Nástio Mosquito and Vic Pereiró).
