Through looking, discussion and debate, this four-week course explores the connections between arts and science using the varied collections and exhibitions of regional galleries.

  • At New Art Gallery Walsall, explore themes of classical music, art history, philosophy and religion in the work of Idris Khan.
  • Discover the scientific developments that shaped art at the Barber Institute- from Renaissance paint-makers to the 19th-century invention that changed art forever.
  • Find out about scientific theories of colour and light that have inspired modern artists to create abstract works at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
  • At Ikon, explore the history of film in relation to scientific discovery with a focus on the work of French film-maker and biologist, Jean Painlevé.
