In 1964, the generosity of an extraordinary couple, Angus and Midge Skene, enabled a small group of artists to realise their dream of starting a gallery dedicated to showing contemporary art. Thus Ikon was born, an artist-run gallery staffed by volunteers.

Since then Ikon has gone from strength to strength, earning its reputation today for innovation, internationalism and excellence. The importance of patronage is no less important now than it was fifty years ago. As public funding has become increasingly difficult to secure, Ikon is dependent on individuals giving more than ever before. We invite you to join a proud tradition to ensure that, through Ikon, contemporary art continues to be an important part of public life, inspiring tens of thousands of people every year.

There are two levels for individual patronage, indicating two different levels of engagement and recognition of your generosity.
