Ikon has been an educational charity since 1968, developing audiences for modern and contemporary art with emphasis on local communities. We do this through our public and youth programmes, our provision for schools, universities and families, and community outreach, including prisons.
ADULTS
Adult learning at Ikon includes workshops, talks, seminars and performance.
SCHOOLS
Ikon is established as a sector leader for its work with school pupils of all ages, offering creative activities, tours and other projects.
ART IN PRISONS
Ikon’s Art in Prisons programme places artist residencies in three prisons: HMP Grendon and HMP Spring Hill in Buckinghamshire, and HMP Birmingham. Each residency shares the core belief that art practice can be a force for good in carceral settings.
FAMILIES
Ikon is for all the family. Free events include Family Saturdays. We also offer free resources and activity packs.
YOUNG PEOPLE
Ikon provides a range of opportunities for young people to engage with the exhibitions, including Ikon Youth Programme (IYP).
