The notion of the body as sculpture plays an important part in Patrick Killoran’s installation, Observation Deck, which returned to Ikon for the second time during September 2006. Visitors were invited to lie on a horizontal platform, which was slid mechanically from the inside to the outside of the building. This experience played on an instinctive sense of vulnerability, through moving head and shoulders out of a second floor window, at the same time enhancing awareness of location in architectural space.
