Suchan Kinoshita and Handsworth Wood Girls School

In response to Suchan Kinoshita’s 2006/7 exhibition at Ikon, pupils from Handsworth Wood Girls School, Birmingham worked with dance artist Polly Hudson and visual artist Joanne Jones to create a series of works for the gallery.

The students worked in three groups – one group worked with Julie Wall, Head of Expressive Arts at Handsworth Wood Girls School to produce a performance piece which was presented in Ikon’s Events Room, a second group worked with Polly to create a site-specific performance which was presented within the Kinoshita exhibition space and the third group worked with Joanne to create a series of sculptural and film works which were displayed throughout the Ikon building.
