Join us for an outdoor creative workshop led by local artist Monica Perez Vega. Inspired by the architecture of Lisa Milroy’s Travel Paintings included in A Very Special Place: Ikon in the 1990s.
Paul Klee says that drawing is ‘taking a line for a walk’. In this outdoor painting workshop, participants will take their own lines for a walk, experimenting with a range of mark making techniques whilst observing local surroundings in Brindleyplace.
This is a live workshop, taking place outside within a Covid-safe environment. This event is open to all and all materials are provided. In the event of adverse weather, please dress accordingly. If you have any access requirements for the session, please let us know by emailing learning@ikon-gallery.org.
This workshop is supported by Brindleyplace. Ikon’s Learning Programme is supported by Cass Art. Please consider making a donation for this free activity. Ikon is a registered charity and your support helps us with everything we do.
About the artist
Monica Perez Vega is a visual artist whose work explores ideas of uncertainty. She is originally from California, but has lived in Montreal, Amsterdam, London and currently Birmingham, UK. Her experiences of continually starting over have led to a practice which investigates cycles of change. All things in nature must adapt to the uncontrollable elements forced upon them and Monica strives to capture that which is on the verge of either renewal or collapse. She holds an MFA in painting from the Slade School of Fine Art and a BFA in painting and drawing from the California College of the Arts.
