Arts Champions – Yardley (2014-2017)
Yardley 2014-2017
Ikon is the Arts Champion for Yardley, providing high quality arts activities for people from a wide range of communities in the four wards of Acocks Green, South Yardley, Sheldon, and Stechford and Yardley North. Prior to our new relationship with Yardley, Ikon spent three years as Arts Champions for Northfield and before that six years for Erdington, working with thousands of residents and local organisations.
Previous Ikon Arts Champions projects include Portrait of Frankley a photography project looking at people and place; artists in residence at Children’s Centres in Northfield, Rubery and Frankley exploring the local area through drawing walking; Drawing Rooms, a collaboration with Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (BCMG) exploring graphic composition; Post Marks, a European funded drawing project with partners in Spain, Italy and Germany; and Northfield Arts Trail with Northfield Arts Forum (NAF).
Ikon is member of the Yardley Arts Forum (Arts in the Yard), a network for local artists, musicians, writers and performers. Each constituency in Birmingham now has an Arts Forum led by local arts organisations to support local arts development and to create a citywide network for artists and creatives.
Arts Champions is supported by Birmingham City Council
