In conversation with Dr Serena Trowbridge, Reader in Victorian Literature, Birmingham City University, Millington discusses her first book, dedicated to uncovering the incredible true stories of 30 muses from the Renaissance to today, and the ways in which they have changed art history. Millington’s text is accompanied by illustrations by Dina Razin. This event includes a book signing.
About the speakers
Ruth Millington is an art historian, critic and author, specialising in modern and contemporary art. Her specialist research interests include working class, outsider and women artists. She has written for publications including The i newspaper, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, Sorbet Magazine and BBC Online and is currently Writer in Residence at The Birmingham & Midland Institute. Millington has featured as an art expert on TV and radio, including BBC Breakfast, Sky Arts and ITV News.
Dr Serena Trowbridge is Reader in Victorian Literature at Birmingham City University. She specialises in Pre-Raphaelite women; her last book was My Ladys Soul: The Poetry of Elizabeth Siddall (2018), and she is currently working on an anthology of writing by Pre-Raphaelite women. She is Chair of the Pre-Raphaelite Society and Senior Vice-President of The Birmingham & Midland Institute.
