Ikon hosts a free children’s workshop to celebrate the launch of Bob & Roberta Smith’s new children’s book Art Makes People Powerful.
Join Bob & Roberta Smith for a creative workshop where you’ll learn all the ways art makes you powerful. Using the book as inspiration, children can make drawings, sing songs and learn about the colour wheel and some famous artists. This event also includes a book signing.

About the book
Art Makes People Powerful is a new art activity book for children by celebrated British artist and Royal Academician Bob & Roberta Smith. Exploring how art makes people powerful, young readers can get creative using just a few materials and methods based in art historical principles. Prompts are painted in Bob and Roberta Smith’s unique and distinctive style, in bright and bold colours which stimulate children’s visual imaginations.

About the artist
Bob and Roberta Smith OBE RA (real name Patrick Brill) is an internationally acclaimed British artist, author, educator and protect the arts activist. His work is held in collections all over the world including MoMA and Tate Modern. His best-known works include Make Art Not War and Letter to Michael Gove. Bob and Roberta Smith is an academic at the Royal Academy of Arts and also teaches at London Metropolitan University. He is revered internationally as a tireless advocate for art education in schools.
