Family Saturday
Join artist Haseebah Ali at Handsworth Library for an interactive photography session inspired by Maryam Wahid’s exhibition Dreams of Brum.
In this workshop families are invited to have their own family photograph taken by Ali before encasing the image in a decorated frame. Taking inspiration from the hand printed mounted frames on display at the library, use printmaking and illustration techniques to create your own piece of portraiture art.
About Family Saturday
Family Saturday takes place on the first Saturday of every month – join us for a drop-in creative activity, led by a local artist. Open to all ages.
Ikon’s Education Programme is supported by Cass Art. Please consider making a donation for this free activity.
About the artist
Haseebah Ali is a Birmingham-based artist and arts educator. Her work is centred around storytelling and conveying that through a visual language. As a printmaker, mainly working with relief print and intaglio, Ali enjoys weaving themes of her own Pakistani culture within her artwork, as well as highlighting humanitarian topics that need to be spoken about more.
