Family Saturday
Facilitator Sadie Barnett invites families to create zines based on personal reflection, inspired by Epiphany (Temporaire) by Exodus Crooks. Responding to the imagery and text in Exodus’ show, families can develop personal zines using collage, text, stamps and stencilling.
In Exodus’ practice, journaling is an important starting point for many of their works. Text forms an key part of the installation, A message from my ancestors. Symbols, like the branches in Y: the symbol of man take on many different forms: human bodies, slingshots, Y Chromosomes, crucifixes. Families are invited to explore the layers of meaning found in Exodus’ exhibition and create personal responses.
Sadie Barnett is a Birmingham-based visual artist, writer and facilitator. Sadie runs workshops which encourage personal reflection, focus on the process of healing and explore the transformative power of arts and crafts. Sadie explores themes of Mental Health, Queerness and romance in her illustrations published under the moniker, bitsketchyinit.
