Family Saturday: A Gift to Birmingham
Families are invited to have their photograph taken by renowned photographer Vanley Burke, in the exhibition A Gift to Birmingham (23 March – 3 April 2022). The showcase features photographic documentation of Birmingham’s migrant communities, taken by Burke in collaboration with Migrant Voice and University of Birmingham.
Families are encouraged to bring along an object that will feature in the photograph, representing their family story. Photographic prints will be posted after the event.
This event is open to all families and aimed at all ages. Advance booking is needed. If you have any access requirements for the session, please let us know by emailing learning@ikon-gallery.org.
A Gift to Birmingham was commissioned as part of the ‘Non-formal Intercommunal Education in Birmingham (NICE-B)’ project funded by the ESRC-IAA and led by Dr Reza Gholami, Deputy Director of the Centre for Research in Race and Education, University of Birmingham.
Ikon’s Learning Programme is supported by Cass Art.
