About the Speakers
Tom Hicks is the artist behind the documentary photography project Black Country Type. His work explores the post-industrial landscape of the region, focusing on words, typography, handmade lettering and signs. His work has been published and exhibited regionally, most recently in the book I.D.S.T (2020) and a solo exhibition at Wolverhampton Art Gallery (2020). In 2021 Hicks collaborated with the poet Liz Berry on the book The Dereliction.
Tegen Kimbley, photographer, has collaborated with Tom Hicks on projects including Wednesbury Through the Lens (2022) and Yam Cams (2021). Exploring environments, manmade or natural, she documents the objects and people that inhabit them, creating narratives around the everyday and over-looked. Tegen Kimbley is Communications Assistant at Ikon.
