IYP x School of Jewellery Showcase

Join Ikon Youth Programme (IYP) for a showcase of metal-work produced in collaboration with The School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University. The group present a series of silver buttons that reflect individual concerns and fixations.

Following a visit to Dion Kitson’s Silver Lining (2024) at the J W Evans Silver Factory, IYP set out to learn about jewellery production in Birmingham. Supported by artist-makers Dauvit Alexander, Annie Higgins and Andy Marriott, the work reflects a journey of learning undertaken by the group, including experimentation with lost-wax carving, blacksmithing and engraving.

This showcase event, on Slow Boat, is supported by Freelands Foundation.

With the support of Freelands Foundation, over six years (2021-27) Ikon Youth Programme (IYP) navigates the waterways on board Slow Boat, a converted narrow boat. IYP are collaborating with creative thinkers and makers to reimagine Slow Boat as a local art school.
