Life:Still
Life:Still was a collaborative project involving Ikon and Birmingham’s John Taylor Hospice. Inspired by the history of the hospice, once the home of influential photographer and politician Sir Benjamin Stone (1838–1914), Life:Still responded to the collection of Stone’s images from The Library of Birmingham’s photographic archive.
During the project people receiving long-term palliative care, their families and hospice staff worked with acclaimed artist Stuart Whipps, to create film, audio-visual pieces and photographs to embody the past and present, exploring themes of isolation, separation and transition.
