Post Marks
As part of our ongoing commitment as Arts Champion for Northfield, Post Marks was a two year project (2011-2013) exploring drawing, collaboration and cultural exchange. A group of local residents from across Northfield, Birmingham, worked with Ikon to explore how drawing can be used as a tool to negotiate, map and reflect on the place in which one lives.
Connecting with partner groups through arts organisations across Europe; Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castello (EACC), Spain; KulturLabor, Germany; and MAMbo, Italy, the drawings produced were posted between countries. These interactions, accompanied by participant exchange visits to each of the host venues, developed a conversation both with and without words overcoming verbal language differences.
The drawings were shown at each venue as the project eveloved, culminating in a celebratory exhibition at Ikon in March 2013 involving all partners and participants from across Europe.
Post Marks was supported by the Grundtvig Lifelong Learning Programme.
