About the artist
Selina Bonelli (b. 1974, Lausanne, Switzerland) works both within the landscape and with found ‘everyday’ objects and ‘passed-on’ materials. They are currently exploring abandoned post-conflict architecture through performance and sound. They hope to develop an affective trail of embodied witnessing of marginalised voices through borders drawn into the landscape around these structures.
Bonelli also seeks to explore spaces outside of language, expanding on listening through touch to uncover the resonances trapped in ruins, utterances and hauntings. They co-deliver SITE (a bi-monthly event that invites artists to come together to generate site responsive work in collaboration with others at locations of socio-historic, architectural, and ecological interest in rural areas across the UK and Europe) and are an associate artist with Performance Space, UK.
This exhibition is supported by Bagri Foundation, British Council through the Connections Through Culture grants programme, Birmingham City University, University of Leeds, and the Melati Suryodarmo Exhibition Circle: A.I. Gallery; ShanghART, Tanya Michele Amador and Michiel Verhoeven; and Michelangelo and Lourdes Samson.
It is developed in collaboration with Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (Museum MACAN), Jakarta, Indonesia.
