This showcase presents two banners made during workshops led by artists Lucy Orta and Aimee Bourne-Green and MotherShip, a community arts organisation in Ladywood and recent residents on Ikon’s Slow Boat.

The banners bear motifs and slogans derived from the suffragette movement and the experiences of women today, and are shown alongside a banner by British artist Lucy Orta selected from her recent exhibition Procession Banners at Medicine Bakery and Gallery.

The showcase includes documentation from Pressing On where the banner was quietly walked through the streets of Birmingham in an act of silent activism.
