Wonderful Weeds – Looking into Thinking
In May 2007, a group of pupils from St. Barnabas Primary School in Erdington visited Ikon’s Eastside space as it was being prepared for an exhibition of work by Jacques Nimki. Over the following month, Jacques worked with an assistant, Jo Spencer to facilitate a series of creative sessions at the school.
During these sessions, Jacques introduced pupils to new ways of looking, drawing and making. The pupils learned about colour, shape and tone, before making their own drawings, creating a large-scale hanging panel from tissue paper and producing a series of unique badges.
This project was funded by Birmingham City Council’s Art Education Award scheme and kindly supported by the Erdington Town Centre Partnership.
