Family flag making
Join artist Jane Thakoordin to create artworks in response to Foreign Exchange by Guyanese-British artist Hew Locke. Participants use a range of textile and collage materials to make flags and banners, sharing family stories and welcoming new arrivals to the city.
This event is open to all families and aimed at all ages. If you have any access requirements for the session, please let us know by emailing learning@ikon-gallery.org.

This event is part of The Migrant Festival 2022 and Ikon’s Arrivals programme for Summer 2022, concerned with the international movement of people and ideas and organised to coincide with the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
About the artist
Jane Thakoordin is a participatory artist who uses textiles to co-create beautiful work. Inspired by the colours and textures of her Guyanese heritage, Thakoordin draws on her professional experiences as a mental health practitioner to link creativity and wellbeing in the workshops she runs across the region.
