What is sculpture, how do we recognise it, and by what do we judge it?
These are the questions which sculptor, Edward Allington offers some answers to.
During the 1980s and early 90s, Allington has risen to international prominence for his part in the movement known as new British sculpture. His work draws on historical sculptural traditions whilst critically engaging with contemporary culture. His work is often witty, but contains serious consideration of ideals about beauty, truth and relevance. Allington describes the work as making poetry with solid objects.
