Ikon presents artists, Siah Armajani’s first major show in Britain. Bringing together an important selection of work by the Iranian-born, American artist. His reading rooms, school house, bridges and gazebos can be seen in a number of countries. Armajani has recently been commissioned to do a large-scale project for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. In both his public art and his smaller, sculptural work, Armajani uses the forms and materials of building to explore the relationships between art, architecture, politics and philosophy. Featuring sculptures, models and wall-mounted assemblages, this exhibition offers a fascinating insight to Armajani’s vision of how art and individuals can interact in a public forum.
