American artist, Nancy Spero is now widely recognised as one of the most important artists of the 20th Century. For this exhibition Spero collaged and printed images of women drawn from classical and modern sources onto the walls or on long papyrus-like friezes that scrolled around the new Ikon gallery. In her installation Let the Priests Tremble, occupies the top space, her cast of characters leap, dance and fly up the roof and back down the walls. Her work celebrates women without denying their struggles. This exhibition is accompanied by a unique hard cover catalogue illustrating the installation with an essay by M. Catherine de Zegher.
