Ikon takes part in 48SHEET, an EC-Arts project that will transform Birmingham into a unique urban gallery by utilising up to 100 advertising billboards to exhibit work by regional, national and international artists.

Ikon Director Jonathan Watkins and Dr Jiehong Jiang, Director of the Centre for Chinese Visual Arts, Birmingham City University, have selected two artists’ groups, MadeIn and Raqs Media Collective, from Shanghai and Delhi respectively – both featured in Ikon’s recent exhibition programme – each to design 30 billboards in response to the project’s overarching theme of ‘cultural curiosity’.
