Ikon presents group exhibition of seven artists, based on supernatural themes. The apparently ordinary scenes depicted in Close Encounters seemed oddly deserted and strangely unreal. Curious collections of household objects appeared frozen in the midst of private drama. The bizarre aftermath of unexplained events lurked beyond suburban picket fences. Places that were once full of incident and activity left abandoned and mysterious. Close encounters present us with a world that is both enticing and uncertain – a world where, the more we examine the scenes before us, the more uncertain our relationship with them becomes.
