Ikon presents the first solo show in Britian, by artist Permindar Kaur. In her practice, Kaur removes the domestic and familiar from their secure moorings in order to produce disquieting results. A tension is set up between the routine and the unfamiliar, the comforting and the alienating. Feelings of containment and anxiety were explored in Cold Comfort through figures and domestic objects, some of which were enticing, while others produced feelings of entrapment. Permindar Kaur was included in this years British Art Show, a major exhibition organised every five years to highlight the most exciting trends in British Art.
