An exciting collaboration between contemporary art and contemporary dance. Ikon presents Spanish artist, Rosa Sanchez and the dance group Motionhouse together to develop work which crossed the boundaries between gallery and theatre. Déjà vu is inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ book, One Hundred Years of Solitude. In the gallery installation, Memory, Rosa Sanchez explores the mechanisms for foretelling the future, the relationship between the future and the past and the supernatural force of a curse that burdens the seven generations in the book. Rosa Sanchez collaborated with sculptor Jean-Pierre Saint-Roch, musician Alain Baumann and photographer Gorka Duo to transform the lower gallery into a Universe of Images of Memory. In five daring performance events, Motionhouse will animate the gallery installation with a new piece of dance theatre. Evening promenade performances to follow by Arcadio; a full-length dance piece inspired by the same themes and sources as the installation. This will take place in a traditional theatre environment in the vicinity of Ikon. The set for Arcadio was created by Rosa Sanchez.
