Ikon presents artist Zarina Bhimji’s first major solo exhibition. Photographs and real objects merged seductively showing aspects of Bhimji’s personal history, absorbing and reflecting a strong awareness of cultural differences. A burnt cloth and withered offerings, ashes in glass boxes are displayed. The beauty of Bhimji’s images has a strange edge implying pain and silence, estrangement and displacement.
