Touching upon notions of generosity in the advent to Christmas, Savage explored issues of consumerism, ownership and possession.

Stolen White Goods was a project in which the artist allegedly stole and photographed several white items from a supermarket including milk, lard, mayonnaise and flour. These images were used as the basis of a book which is available from Ikon Shop.

Savage also performed a series of discreet interventions in the city centre. These included Negative Pricing in which an unsuspecting member of the public purchased an item from a city centre department store, only to find out that the article has already been paid for by the artist. The actual cost of the item was then refunded, rather than debited, to the purchaser’s bank account. The Gift (Theft Reversal) involved the artist buying an item from a high street store. He later returns to the shop to secretly slip the item back onto the shelf where he originally found it.
