If landscape paintings result from artists’ responses to the environment, as well as artist’s feelings about their place in the world, then how did these relationships register in the world of contemporary painting in the early 90s? Wild looks at paintings by six British artists, each of whom has a highly particular – and ultimately revealing – way of painting natural and urban environments. These works range from small, intimate images of abandoned places between city and country, to vividly coloured imaginary landscapes, to huge panoramas inspired by dramatic natural scenes.
Artists include: Sally Chapman, Anthony Daley, Dexter Dalwood, Richard Kidd, Gavin Lockheart and Amanda Thesiger.
