Black Country Voyages at Kings Norton Junction Festival
Saturday 11th July at Kings Norton Junction Festival
On Saturday Black Country Voyages made a short journey from Brindley Place, Birmingham to Kings Norton Junction to take part in the 2015 festival to celebrate 200 years of the completion of the Birmingham to Worcester Canal.
There was a huge turn out with 48 boats and lots of activities taking place on the playing fields, including a special farmers market, entertainment from artists and musicians, fair rides and lots more.
Jacques Nimki joined us on the boat for this event and ran free drop in workshops for the public. Children came onto the boat and drew bold, outline drawings of plants in the style of Jacques work. They then added collage to their drawings using tissue paper to create abstract plant like forms. It was a great technique and it also allowed parents the opportunity to come on and chat to find out more about the boat.
It was great to have the boat in Birmingham. Black Country Voyages is well known in the Black Country now, which is fantastic but it was great to see lots of new faces at Kings Norton on the weekend.
