Black Country Voyages at the BCNS Bonfire Rally, Smethwick
Saturday 1st November Black Country Voyages took part in the Annual BCNS Bonfire Rally in Smethwick.
Starting at the bottom level canal at Smethwick Pump House we took visitors on a boat trip up Smethwick Locks and onto the Engine Arm Aqueduct for the official opening of the event by the Mayor of Sandwell.
Our boat guests included members of the BCNS and the Canal and River Trust, along with the Mayor of Sandwell and Mayoress. It was great to be surrounded by people who were passionate about the canal system and the Smethwick community. There was a fantastic atmosphere.
We were greeted at the Engine Arm Aqueduct by a crowd of visitors, photographers, music and of course a ribbon to be cut by the Mayor. It was a great event to take part in and brilliant to be on the boat to enjoy the last of this years sunshine. The Rally continued into the evening with a fireworks display, bonfire and local music.
We hope to return in 2015.
