Black Country Voyages at the Stourbridge Navigation Trust Open Weekend

Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October

Last month we visited the Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge for the annual Open Weekend. There was a huge turn out of boats, stretching the whole of the canal and a selection of stalls surrounding the area. Vintage cars lined the entrance to the site, along with the a stall dedicated to locally grown fruit and vegetables. It was lovely to see some familiar faces of those who had been to previous events that we had attended, as well as new faces. Black Country Voyages was situated at the end of the rally and although the walk was long, it provided everyone with the chance to admire all of the beautiful heritage boats that had joined us.

The public were invited onto the boat for the day, to take inspiration from the work of Jacques Nimki and produce their own wild flower drawings. There was plenty of inspiration around us for the public, with the towpath full of wildlife it was a perfect location. We were also visited by singer, songwriter Kate Doubleday who is interested in working with the boat next year.

It was a lovely weekend, at an event that we haven’t visited before and it would be lovely to return next year.
