Black Country Voyages boat trips with Kick Ash

August & September 2015

Since mid August we have been running boat trips with Kick Ash; a programme where young people get involved in projects using drama, music, sculpture and loads of other art forms to explore all aspects of smoking and related issues. Beginning at Merry Hill, Cradley Heath we took the groups on short boat trips to Blowers Green Bridge. The relaxing, slow pace of the boat, provided the perfect atmosphere for the groups to begin their projects with Kick Ash and start to openly discuss smoking. Ensuring that the groups felt comfortable to talk about smoking and the issues is crucial to the programme and the boat formed the perfect platform for this.

We hope to meet up with the groups again to see what work they produce to spread the word about being smoke free.

Due to the sensitivity of the some of the groups we have been working with on these boat trips, we were unable to use photography during these sessions.
