Black Country Voyages boat trips with Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery
Wednesday 9 & Thursday 10 September
For the last two days we have been running boat trips for the retired painting groups at Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery. Starting at Bumblehole Conservation Group Visitor Centre, we took the groups on a trip to Saltwells Nature Reserve. Going at slow pace down the canal, the group were provided with the perfect opportunity to enjoy some water colour painting, sketching and photography, whilst relaxing with a cup of tea and a biscuit. Mooring up at the Nature Reserve gave us the chance to stretch our legs and set up camp for a lunch break. Members of the group also took this as an opportunity to get their water colour palettes out too. Chatting to the members of the painting group, it was clear how much these days out meant to them, for some it was a day that they could enjoy their passion, that they unfortunately never got to pursue as a career, where as others simply so it as an opportunity to socialise with like minded people.
Everybody involved in this day, thoroughly enjoyed it. It will be great to visit the painting groups back at Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery to see how the boat trips have inspired them with their work.
