Black Country Voyages in Birmingham

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 February

We all agreed that it would be great to take the boat back to Birmingham for Jacques Nimki’s final weekend on the boat. He had started the project at a launch event at Ikon Gallery back in Spring 2015, so it only made sense to have the project finished there, a year after. For the last two days of half term the boat was moved back to Brindleyplace in Birmingham, just around the corner from Ikon Gallery. We were luckily situated under Brewmaster Bridge, out of the rain between the Ikon gallery and the Sea life Centre. It was a great position for families passing.

Families visiting the gallery were made aware by staff of where we were moored so took the opportunity to visit the boat and take part in a creative activity lead by Artist Jacques Nimki. We had less numbers visit the boat this weekend, compared to the Black Country Living Museum, but because of this we were able to offer a more relaxed creative experience. It was a great way to complete Jacques Nimki’s project, The Black Apotheca, on board Black Country Voyages.
