Get crafty this Christmas with Ikon Shop
With Christmas now just weeks away, Ikon has a host of events planned to make finding that special gift even easier.
The Winter Art Fair (29 November – 1 December) brings together Ikon, Eastside Projects, The Lombard Method and Grand Union, who together show art for sale by international and British artists, including Ryan Gander, Juneau Projects and Cornelia Parker. The Fair includes prints, posters, books and sculptures, priced from £10 to £2000, with all profits directly supporting the galleries.
Ikon’s independent shop is offering a series of creative workshops to help prepare for the festive season. Learn to make personalised cards and gift tags, how to create a pocket book and make customised jewellery, perfect as a stocking filler, in our special late night opening sessions.
Ikon Shop also now has a range of Christmas gifts on offer, from beautiful art books and children’s presents to handmade stationery and jewellery.
Finally Art Bus returns on 11 December for a evening of free tours and seasonal refreshments. Take the free Art Bus to travel between five of Birmingham’s galleries – Ikon, the RBSA Gallery, the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, mac birmingham and Eastside Projects. Each gallery stays open late for Christmas shopping, with free gallery tours and refreshments. As a special festive treat Ikon will be serving Hogan’s mulled cider – www.hoganscider.co.uk. Ikon Shop: Late Night Opening and Workshops
Thursday 5 December, 6.30 – 7.30pm, £5 per person*
Card making: Join Ikon’s Learning Team for an informal session making personalised Christmas cards and gift tags.
Wednesday 11 December, 6.30 – 7.30pm, £15 per person*
Book making: Local book binder Helen Wilson demonstrates the art of the perfect zigzag by showing you how to create her zigzag pocket book.
Wednesday 18 December, 6 – 8pm, £20 per person*
Jewellery making: Spend an evening in Ikon’s David Tremlett exhibition making geometric statement jewellery with a wintry theme, with local creatives Working Clasp and Checkmybox.

Ikon Shop is open until 8pm during our evening craft sessions. Normal opening hours during December are Monday – Sunday, 10.30am-6pm or you can shop online
Ikon Gallery and Shop are closed from Monday 23 December 2013 to Wednesday 1 January 2014 inclusive, re-opening on Thursday 2 January 2014.
